Brain Vitality EEG Mapping Symptoms

Anxiety and depression are two increasingly common, difficult issues. They are easy to define, yet the experience of each is different for each person.

Anxiety is a feeling of fear and apprehension over anticipated future events. You may feel anxiety over job interviews, going to school, or even giving speeches. All of these things are normal. However, if you’re having extreme and unbearable feelings of anxiety that last longer than six months, you may have an anxiety disorder.

Depression, on the other hand, is a mood disorder. It is often associated with feelings such as loss, sadness, anger, or fear that interfere with daily life. People can experience anxiety and depression together or separately.

What are the Symptoms of Anxiety?

Anxiety feels different for each person. It can feel like a racing heart, butterflies in your stomach, or a general feel of tension and inability to relax.

Sometimes, your anxiety can make you feel out of control, like your mind and body are disconnected from one another. Other ways people experience anxiety can include painful thoughts, panic attacks, and nightmares. You may have a general fear of a specific event, place, or time. Some common symptoms of anxiety include difficulty falling asleep, increased heart rate, restlessness, rapid breathing, and trouble concentrating.

What are the Symptoms of Depression?

Not everyone who has depression will experience the same symptoms. Symptoms can vary in their severity, how long they last, and how often they happen. If you experience some of the following symptoms nearly every day for at least a 2-week period, you may be living with depression.

Some of the most common symptoms are:

  • Feeling bothered, angry, or annoyed
  • Feeling anxious or empty
  • Crying a lot
  • Feeling worthless, hopeless, and pessimistic
  • Moving or talking slowly
  • Appetite or weight changes
  • Chronic physical pain with no clear cause
  • Loss of interest in things you once enjoyed
  • Fatigue or decreased energy
